Gunung (Mount) Brinchang is the 2nd highest peak in Cameron Highland.  It is 2032m above sea level (roughly 6,666ft).  The safer path going up is through the tar road.  The road branch off from the way to Sungei Palas tea plantation and one can drive up to the top.  However, the road up is narrow and winding and very steep.
The main attraction up the hill is to see the sun rise.  There are organised tours going up which start early in the morning, about 6.30am and cost about RM60.00 per person.

My wife and myself decided to hike up mount Brinchang.  So a day earlier, on 17.2.09, we drove to Sungei Palas tea plantation to see where we have to turn off to get to the peak.  On 18.2.09 morning, it was too cold and wet to start early and so we started about 7.30am.  The way up is very steep and we park our car half way up the peak and walked.  The morning air here is cold and walking up the steep slope is difficult.  Oh the feeling was great when the peak came into sight.

Well we did not see the sun rise but to see the great view from atop is worth our effort.

The trees are covered with thick moss and some do look scary

Cameron Highlands - Malaysia's popular hill resort which is 1,524m above sea level (this is the mid-section which is popular with tourist).  This resort is cool all year round with temperature between 10 - 25c.  The lowest section, Ringlet, is warmer and as one goes higher, Tanah Rata & Brinchang the mid-section, it gets cooler.  The top station (more than 1,800m), Kea Farm, Tringkap & Kampung Raja, can be very cold at night.

To get to Cameron one has to drive or take a bus from Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, Penang or Kelantan.  The road up is winding and on certain stretches can be sharp.  During the raining season, there might be land slide along the road.

The more popular areas are Tanah Rata and Brinchang.  These are the tourist areas with banks, post office, shops and restaurant.  The other attraction is the numerous jungle tracks from easy to difficult.  There are also many farms - vegetable, fruit & flower.
Cameron Highland is popular among the locals (malaysian).  A mixture of european and other asian tourists also visit Cameron.  I love the place because of the cool climate and the greenery.  I have been up the hill resort numerous times.
In view of the cool weather, I always walk as much as I can.  I had walked from Tanah Rata to Brinchang which is about 6/7 km and I had tracked, also from Tanah Rata, through the jungle path down to the lower station, Ringlet.

The popular places for visitors are the Robinson fall, cactus valley, rose garden, strawberry farm and the greens' market which is a must visit place if you like marketing & to haggle over prices.
