What a trip this time. It's cold, it's beautiful and a different kind of experience traveling in Hokkaido, Japan. The Japanese people are so polite and friendly compared to the Chinese in China. I do not know about other Japanese cities and towns/prefecture but I do not think the people can be any different. As for my experience in China, it is horrible with people knocking into me and smokers blowing smoke into my face. Well, they do improved a lot.
One glaring difference is the communication part. In South Korea where the people also do not speak English, we can still get by with some "broken English". The same with Thailand and Indonesia. However, majority of Japanese totally cannot understand/speak English. What a struggle when we lost our way upon arrival in Sapporo.
Anyway, it is a very good trip. It will be better if I do not suffer so frequent leg pain.
I'm a senior citizen from Penang, Malaysia. I like travelling but hate the waiting, like waiting for long period of time to board the plane. Other then travelling I like photography, and I'm a self-taught photographer.
