In view of the "unstable" situation in South Thailand, we are naturally a bit apprehensive about this trip although Hat Yai has been pretty safe since the last "explosion" not too long ago. So this time we are staying away from the main tourist area.
My wife and myself were unfortunate to be hit by some form of "chemical" poisoning on the first day of our arrival. We booked a budget hotel which do not provide tea/coffee making facility. Thus, we brought along a "cup/pot kettle" which my wife bought from China recently. It was supposed to be stainless steel. After a thorough washing I thought it's safe to use. Oh, China products!!! I boiled some water for drinking before going to the floating market. The interior of the pot became slightly black and the water, after cooling down, look like someone dip a paint brush into it. Well, a sip will do no harm, or so we thought. At the floating market both of us had diarrhoea and vomited and we spoiled everyone's trip here. We recovered on the 3rd day only!.
Although drained off energy, we managed to enjoy ourselves.
