A few days ago I noticed a dove nesting in my garden. My thought was it must be the common zebra doves. My garden has many zebra doves running all over the place. Anyway I just took a snap short of it out of habit. However, when I loaded onto my computer I was surprised to see that it is a spotted dove which has not been seen in my area at all. This is the first time I've seen a spotted dove and I've been trying to photograph it but without success. The male would fly away as soon as I approached and the female would be sitting in the nest protected by the leaves and branches of the plant. However, I managed to get a few shorts of the female sitting in the nest.
I've been keeping watch for a few days already to see if there's any chicks. Unfortunately, it has been raining at night for the past 2 nights and I'm not sure if the egg(s) will hatch. This is nature.
